NEWS AND EVENTS
Find out the latest news from the library. Lots of events take place throughout the school year including our evening cocktail and Reading Week and book fair, which this year will be during the week 1 - 5 March. We receive regular visits from authors throughout the year. Watch out for author, Sally Gardner who will visit Marymount in June.
Authors regularly visit the library and speak to students. See the photos from authors who have visited recently. Also follow us on Twitter for the latest news.
At the start of the year we had a new arrival in the library - a book display in the form of a large giraffe. This attracted much attention and the children kept on asking what the giraffe was called. We therefore held a competition to name the giraffe and we are very pleased to announce that George was the most popular name chosen.

In September lots of new books and DVDs and videos arrived in the library. Come and see our new fiction books and biographies as well as our latest additions about the environment and ecology, religions of the world, festivals, life cycles, plants, animals, American history etc.
Marymount parent, Piki Nestares Phelps has recently published Taking flight: escape from the Zoo of St. Jean Cap Ferrat. Piki wrote and illustrated the story about six parekeets who escape from a zoo on the French Riviera. More
Mrs Karen Tazi, fourth grade teacher, has just published her fourth book, 'Na Clocha Sineacha [Irish for The Chinese Stones]. It's a beautiful sensitive and magical tale set in China about saving the planet. Her third book, Bliain sa Fhrainc [Irish for 'A Year in France'], is about an Irish boy called Emmet who has spent one year at Marymount in Paris. Mrs. Tazi writes in English, and translates into Irish. She also illustrates her own books with beautiful water colour art.
We have all Mrs Tazi's books in the Library, so come and check them out!
