THIRD GRADE
Third grade students enjoy a wide range of classroom activities and work on many different projects throughout the year as well as taking part in field trips, concerts and social events.
THIRD GRADE ACTIVITIES
Third graders learn all about France and its products. We start the year with a visit to France Miniature and conclude the unit with a visit to a local cheese shop. In Social Studies, when we learn about the Ancient Egyptians, we visit the Louvre.
Poetry writing and designing a long-ship are included in our study of the Vikings. There are many fun projects in science, such as building simple machines and making a wind-speed anemometer.
Third graders enjoy writing stories and poems. Visit the Writers Corner to read the poems the third grade have written.
Third Grade Birthday Corner.
Who's birthday is it this month?
UNICEF is a big part of our religion program and each year we raise money to help children in developing countries. Grade 3 participate annually in the UNICEF Frimousse doll project. The dolls are all beautifully made and are displayed in the library. A raffle for the dolls raises money .
Mme Ardrit, a 3rd grade teacher shares some comments made by students involved in this project.
Gabriella: Unicef was a wonderful project to work on. It was sad but also fun. It was sad to see the videos of children who have to go to war, and have no medicines or clean water. It was fun to make and adopt our Frimousse dolls. I really enjoyed this project.
Isabel: I really enjoyed working with UNICEF. I learned that I am very lucky to have a home and a loving family.
Albina: Unicef is interesting. I really enjoyed learning the song Hand in Hand and singing it at our assembly.
