AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

We offer a range of after school activites including boy scouts, girl scouts, artmini art club,  needlecraft, kumon math , French drama,  ballet, chesstechnology and digital story telling.  Students also enjoy participating in many sports including minisports , swimming, track and field, basketball, floor hockey, judo and tennis.

A late bus is available for student participating in after school activities.  Please ensure that your child has a healthy snack and a bottle of water.  For more information contact Mrs C. Boswell in the school office.

  Swimming is available for first and second graders.  Students must bring a towel, swim suit and swim cap to school in a plastic bag.  Boys need to wear racing swim suits (e.g. speedos); swimming trunks and board shorts are not allowed.  Girls should wear a one piece suit.  Please ensure that your child has snack.  The swimming pool will provide instructors and the students will be accompanied by a teacher and parent volunteer.   If any parent would like to volunteer to accompany the students please contact Mrs. C. Boswell.  Students wil be transported to and from the pool by bus.  Children not taking the late bus may be picked up at 4.50pm at school.

Tennis is available for grades 1 to 8 and is at the Tennis club Jean Borotra at Courbevoie.  Students play on indoor clay courtrs with certified teachers.  This activity is an annual activity.  Students walk to and from the club (15 minutes each way) accompanied by 1 instructor per 6 players.  Rackets can be provided at the beginning.  Gym wear and tennis shoes are required.

 This activity is open to students from grades 1 to 2 and offers a variety of sports, activities and games with an emphasis on fair and cooperative play and sportsmanship.

This activity is for students from grades 1, 2 and 3.  Aurélie Plusquellec is a qualified teacher with a DE from the Conservatoire de Puteaux and the Académie Internationale de la Danse.  She wishes to convey her own loveof dancing to the students.  This course will be an initiation to dance and music appreciation.  Students should wear leotards, tights and ballet shoes.  Information concerning group purchasing of clothing will be given by the teacher during the first session. This activity is open to students in Kindergarten.  Students will discover art through different mediums such as clay, salt dough, water colours, inks, using natural resources and explore basic techniques through short projects.  There will be an end of term party in the classroom and an art show in the Art Room in May.

The Art Club is open to students from grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 and offers art activities based upon students interests: mostly clay building, paper maché, mosaics... The 90 minute session allows more in depth development of art projects.

This activity is open to grades 1 to 4  and aims to stimulate the students’ imagination as well as progressively improve their level of spoken French throught its various theatrical and improvisational exercises.

Kumon Math is open for students in grades Kindergarten to Grade 8 and is a Japanese child centred method.  Articulated materials leading straight to high school math.  Starting at just the right study level without putting students under strain. Based on individual ability (independent learning).  Stressing the ability to calculate. 10 to 30 minutes daily home study to be corrected by the parents.  The class lasts 30 to 45 minutes.  The students may be picked up at 4.15.  The students who usually take the bus can do their homework and catch the late bus.  Students may also attend an additional weekly class with Mrs Ishikawa at AARJF,  97 avenue des Champs Elysees 75008, Paris.

This activity is open to students from grades 2, 3 and 4.  Students will use digital cameras and sound recording to record themselves acting out their stories.  These will then be put into a program called Movie Maker which can then be viewed by children and parents. [more]
