FIFTH GRADE
Mrs Schaefer, Ms O'Sullivan are the fifth grade homeroom teachers. In social studies students learn about the discovery of America, life in colonial times and the American Revolution. In English students study the literature of the Second World War. Survivors from the second world war visit the school and share their experiences. Students also participate in various field trips throughout the year.
AMERICAN REVOLUTION
Students learn about the American Revolution in Social Studies classes and in June each student gives a speech on the American Revolution from the perspective of either a British, French or American key player.

EXPERIENCES OF WORLD WAR II
In 2009 Odile Hellier, the owner of the Village Voice bookshop in Paris visited Marymount. She talked to 5th grade students about her and her family's experiences of life in France during the second world war and the French resistance. See the photos from her visit.
