YOUNG AUTHORS FESTIVAL
This is an annual event which takes places in June. Elementary students write stories and poems and create their own books. Every year a famous author visits the school to open the festival.
In 2010 British author and illustrator, Sally Gardner was the special guest for the Young Authors Festival at Marymount. [more]
The guest speakers for the 2009 Young Authors' Festival were writer and illustrator, Lynne Cherry and Irish storyteller, Niall de Burca. The 4th graders also performed a play, 'The Great Kapok Tree', which is based on one of Lynne Cherry's books. See the photos. [more]
The 2008 Young Authors' Festival was opened by the famous author Jack Gantos. He talked to younger students about his Rotten Ralph storeis whilst older students appreciated his stories about Jack Henry and Joey Pigza.

Irish storyteller opened the festival in 2007. He entertained students with lots of amusing Irish folk tales and legends.
