Recently, Grade 6 students studied personal narrative writing - reading and analyzing narratives written by professional writers, as well the work of their colleagues, other 6th grade students. After going through the authentic writing process (generating ideas, rehearsing, drafting, and editing/revising) it was time to publish their work and celebrate all that they learned about how to write a compelling and meaningful personal piece with a publishing party! On November 15 Marymount students traveled to Valencia, Spain where they participated in the annual Valencia Model United Nations Conference (VALMUN) which is hosted at the American School of Valencia. Marymount was one of seven schools participating in what has become a significant middle school European Model United Nations (MUN) conference.
Service learning at Marymount is embedded in our curriculum and are purposeful assignments that aim to foster the connection between the RSHM Network of Schools and therefore enable students to speak with one voice in support of the RSHM Mission. Our Middle School Student Leadership Team started off their very active year of service with a retreat and project management development training at the RSHM Student Leadership Retreat. This year, the event was held in Rome with our sister schools, Marymount International School, London, Marymount International School Rome, and Istituto Marymount. On Wednesday evening October 5 young alumni who attend local High Schools in the Paris area were invited to the campus for a reunion. The current 8th grade class was also invited as a way of bringing everyone "back together" to talk about their high school experiences, visit and party with teachers and staff and enjoy a dinner served from a local food truck, Cantine California. Marymount International School, Paris kicked-off its first ever School Maker Faire on September 24th, 2016. Sponsored by Lego and the NEW Marymount School FabLab, the School Maker Faire featured S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Math) projects from Marymount Faculty & Staff, Students and Parents along with hands-on projects from community makers, and live performances!
Whether today's students go on to be astronauts, artists, engineers, scientists or presidents, we know that the challenges their generation faces will demand creative and innovative solutions. Marymount is proud to be the first international school in France to have a dedicated 'FabLab' on our school campus. Our FabLab team has collaborated closely with Jon Santiago, MIT graduate, who has also worked setting up FabLabs in Marymount New York, Marymount London, and Marymount Rome.
Marymount kicked off the school year with an inspirational two-day training for our faculty and staff with Educational Consultant, Dr. Fran Prolman. With her can-do attitude, Dr. Prolman was an inspiring speaker that motivated and encouraged our faculty and staff to start the school year off with a fresh start and high energy!

Marymount Alumni Martina Colzi Risaliti and her brother Alessandro Colzi Risaliti were both recently awarded sports awards from the American School of Paris. Martina received the MIP (Most Improved Player) in Volleyball, and Alessandro received the MVP (Most Valuable Player) for Basketball. Bravo to both!
