Our Approach

As the oldest international school in a global learning community that comprises 19 schools worldwide, Marymount International School Paris is a welcoming international community with a dynamic learning culture committed to excellence in all aspects of life.

Educating Hearts & Minds since 1923

At Marymount we believe that education can only be truly holistic if it is rooted in a journey of faith and seeks to foster the growth of the whole child. This includes the spiritual and moral dimension as well as the physical and social dimensions, and Marymount has a rich and proud tradition of excellence based on the RSHM's clear vision of educational excellence and belief that every child matters.

“The aims of a Marymount education are manifold: to educate the heart and mind, and to provide for each student’s total growth, intellectually spiritually, socially, and physically.” Mother Marie Joseph Butler, RSHM
Founder of Marymount Paris

Our Curriculum

We offer a comprehensive standards-based curriculum that is custom built to foster the learning and growth of our diverse student body. Our principles and practices of teaching and learning are grounded in the guiding statements of the RSHM global learning community. We cherish and foster the children’s growth and we strive to support our students as they to grow into principled, innovative, and active agents for change in the global community in the tradition of the RSHM.

Within the context of our guiding statements, our curriculum is a standards-based one. Our standards are from Project AERO (American Education Reaches Out) and are applicable for our core subjects of Language Arts, Mathematics, and Social Studies. Our Science program is based on the NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards), and for our Specialist Subjects - Music, Art, Religion, Physical Education, and French - we have developed our own standards-based frameworks in line with the mission and philosophy of our school.

A Personalized Learning Approach

We believe that children learn best in different ways and therefore try to provide a rich and varied learning environment that allows children to develop their personal skills and abilities to their full potential. Our goal is to identify a child's individual learning needs, recognize their skills and talents, and celebrate the culture and experience that they bring to our school, whilst advocating for our students' fundamental right to learn by ensuring equality of access to the curriculum.

As such, every teacher at Marymount is dedicated to ensuring that every student receives a learning experience that best suits their needs. Our teachers are also supported by specialized departments that help further ensure our students’ success:

Gifted & Talented (G&T)
When the needs of the more able, or gifted and talented, are met appropriately, performance in the school as a whole will rise. We provide all students with opportunities to reach their potential, providing for individual strengths and interests with a view to achieving standards underscored by equity and excellence.
