This winter, our eighth grade students embarked on a journey that allowed them to weave their various academic disciplines and skills together for a collaborative, designed-based project. Students had to create a sustainable monument using symbolism and the historical content and analyses from their individual essays. The monument's purpose was to best reflect the positive (or negative) legacy of Napoleon Bonaparte. For the project, students were given constraints, such as limited dimensions for their monument as well as a budget, that they needed to respect in their calculations. Their proposals were finally presented orally to an audience of over 100 students and faculty judges on Wednesday, March 14th, 2018.
