Marymount Middle School Students Hold Drive to Collect Essential Items for a local Women's Shelter

After having self-selected to read news articles about the #Metoo Campaign for their weekly News Presentation, students in Grade 8 decided to write letters and visit local businesses to solicit toiletry bags, soaps, feminine hygiene pads, perfumes, shampoos and make-up. Marymount's External Relations Director, Mrs. Kate des Places, attended a December Student Implementation Committee meeting and delivered a workshop on how to write grant letters. The committee then researched various companies and prepared letters to solicit donated items. Students also visited local businesses with the letters to solicit donations. In all, over 50 toiletry bags were filled with a wide range of beauty and hygiene products. The items are being donated to a local women's shelter that is directed by a former Marymount Head of School Sister Brigitte Dalton, RSHM.
