Marymount recently held it's annual Student Led Conference on April 10th! Student Led Conferencing is an excellent opportunity for our students to reason critically and communicate effectively about their own learning journey, and gives students the opportunity to discuss their personal academic progress, articulate goals, and share examples of their work with their parents. It is a powerful research-based practice used in many exemplary international schools around the globe.
The Student Led Conference process is much different than the traditional parent-teacher conference. It is a unique opportunity for the teacher to act as a facilitator and coach as your child leads the discussion on his/her learning. Often several conferences will be taking place at one time within the same room. The teacher will circulate and be present for specific questions on issues that the students may not be able to answer. Teachers assist, direct, and support our students throughout the preparation process before the conference day to prepare them to present to their parents and guardians.
