Science & Discovery
  • Sink or Float? test everyday objects in a bucket, sink, or even a kiddie pool. Make a chart of your results.
  • Rainbow in a Jar: use sugar, water, and food coloring to explore liquid density. Try it on the picnic table for a colorful outdoor lab!
  • DIY Slime or Oobleck: mix up some fun, gooey science. It’s messy—so why not make it in the backyard?
  • Bug Hotel: use leaves, twigs, and bark to build small insect habitats in the garden or park.
Engineering & Critical Thinking
  • Map Your Home or Backyard: draw a map of your house—or take it outside and map the garden or playground!
  • Race Track Builder: use painter’s tape to make a giant race track across floors or patios. Bonus: have the track climb outdoor furniture!
  • Spice Alphabet Game: organize kitchen spices—or outdoor nature finds like leaves and flowers—alphabetically.
Storytelling & Language
  • Family Interview: ask thoughtful questions to a grandparent, sibling, or neighbor and record their stories.
  • Joke Hour: learn three new jokes. Try them out at your next picnic or family dinner.
  • Big Words Challenge: learn 10 new words. Write them on cards, illustrate them, and use them outside in a word treasure hunt!
Performance & Expression
  • Learn a Magic Trick: practice in front of the mirror or on the porch. Then put on a magic show for your neighbors!
  • Silent Reflection: spend 60 minutes in silence (on a blanket under a tree?) then write or draw how it felt.
  • Dance Break! Try Just Dance 3 on the patio or in the living room.
  • Secret Codes: create and share secret messages with family and friends using a homemade cipher.
Culture
  • Language Exchange: call someone who speaks another language and learn 5 phrases—or listen to a show in that language and guess what’s happening.
  • Morse Code Messages: learn Morse and send coded messages to your siblings through floors—or knock them on a picnic table!
  • International Day: have a “culture day” picnic with words, songs, or games from a different country.
Movement & Mindfulness Under the Sky
  • LEGO Daily Challenge: take your bricks outside and follow this challenge sheet to build in the sun.
  • Brains On! Podcast: listen to Brains On! while lying on a blanket and watching the clouds.
  • Shadow Yoga: do yoga or stretching outdoors and try to match your shadow to the poses.
