- If we could get on an airplane now, where would you want to go?
- If we could go to (insert name of favorite place) but couldn't use a car to get there, how do you think we could get there?
- If you could have any animals in the world as a pet, where would you go to get it and what would it be?
- If you could do something just like your friend (use name of a friend) what would you do?
- If you could do something like your Dad/Mom do, what would you want to be able to do ?

Routines, Responsibilities & Empowerment
- Establish routines: set good habits now around morning, working, eating, and bedtime.
- Adapt sleep routines before coming back to school.
- Empower your children by giving them little jobs to do and praise them for it.
- By age 2-3, children should play their part in helping to: put their toys away, make their bed, throw away diapers, feed the pet, put clothes in the basket, set the table.
- Children are expected to be toilet trained by Pre-Kindergarten 1.

Social and Emotional Readiness
- Children are emotional sponges and parents set the emotional tone.
- Help your children name and validate their emotions.
- Help your children understand that all emotions are ok, but actions may need to be tempered.
- Help your children develop tools to handle strong emotions.
- Consider having playdates for the summer, especially towards the end of August.
