  • If you could do something like your Dad/Mom do, what would you want to be able to do ?
Routines, Responsibilities & Empowerment
  • Establish routines: set good habits now around morning, working, eating, and bedtime. 
  • Adapt sleep routines before coming back to school. 
  • Empower your children by giving them little jobs to do and praise them for it. 
  • By age 2-3, children should play their part in helping to: put their toys away, make their bed, throw away diapers, feed the pet, put clothes in the basket, set the table. 
  • Children are expected to be toilet trained by Pre-Kindergarten 1.
Social and Emotional Readiness
  • Children are emotional sponges and parents set the emotional tone. 
  • Help your children name and validate their emotions. 
  • Help your children understand that all emotions are ok, but actions may need to be tempered. 
  • Help your children develop tools to handle strong emotions. 
  • Consider having playdates for the summer, especially towards the end of August.
